Spring???

Is this what we have been waiting for and talking about for weeks?   Yes, I do believe it is. These Bradford pear trees are everywhere in our city and these are what I see looking out the front door.

These are a few of the little arrangements I made and scattered throughout the house.  Notice the one with the two babies.  Those are our identical twin daughters.  Aren't they sweet!!

There are various other little things scattered around but, these are good examples of my little trademarks!

Easter Views

I bought this fern at our church in Shreveport. It cost $14.00 and is absolutely huge and so green. The ferns were to benefit the Methodist Childrens Home in Ruston, LA. What a great buy and for a good cause.

Isn't it beautiful!!  I repotted it since, it was in a hanging basket.  Just hope I can keep it growing, because, those hot winds of summer here aren't conducive for keeping ferns nice.  Notice we haven't started planting in our flower bed behind the fern.  Last year we planted too early and I had to cover the beds with sheets as, we had a late winter storm.  This year we are planting later.  It will be beautiful in a few months.

This is a wreath that I couldn't pass up in S'port.  I just love the colors and it looks pretty in the entry hall.

My hubs made these little bunnies quite a few years ago when, he had a shop to do woodworking.  I have repainted them several times but, they are still so cute.  Some years I have put little plants, violets or whatever I could find in those tiny pots in the bunny backs.  This year I made these modge podge eggs in new and different colors.  Then yesterday, I found at Target  these same clear eggs and grass in the matching colors so, of course, I had to have them.

I started hanging crosses on this wall shortly after we moved into this house  almost four years ago.  I bought them at various places in different cities.  The little one in the picture frame was just a little cross I bought but don't remember where.  It seemed a little small to hang so, I found this frame on Etsy and used gold rubbing  paint to change it from a dark brown to gold.  The frame has fleur di lis 's on it (I am so into fleur di lis now, even before our  Saints won the Super Bowl). Anyway I think it looks nice on the wall next to the collage of crosses.

This is the vignette I have on the dining room table.  There certainly is no method to this madness.  I just put things down there as I finished them so, I now need to come up with some semblance of order for this.

I have several other little Easter decorations, however, I think this is about all for today.  Remember American Idol and Dancing With the Stars tonight.  Also, our Oklahoma women will be playing tonight in the Elite 8.  Guess the tivo will get a workout tonight.

Have a great evening!

Pins and Needles

I just love this picture of   Lauren, our oldest granddaughter,
and her baby Allie.  It is quite large and hangs in Rick's entry hall.
Here are a few more pictures taken at Poppa's house while we
were there last week.

Allie is just so cute but, of course, I couldn't be biased
or could I.

Sunday Sunshine

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a little windy but what else in Oklahoma. I have been busy trying to get Easter projects done. Being gone those almost two weeks has thrown us behind. We did get the Easter things out of the attic and pretty much in place so, spring has sprung around here. I charged my camera last night so should get some pictures up and going soon.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!!

Warm and sunny

After snow on Sunday, Monday came along warm and sunny and beautifully spring.

Rick, our son, came home from New Orleans on Sunday night engaged. She is Amy, a very sweet lady and a southern belle for sure. A wedding will follow sometime in the summer of 2011.

We are going home to OKC tomorrow. We plan to stop at Ikea in McKinney, Texas. We've never been to Ikea. I know it's hard to believe, isn't it? It will be nice to get home to see our boy, and of course, everyone else. Also, it will be nice to be back in our own bed. No matter how nice the bed is away from home, it is never as good as your own.

Look forward to seeing you on the other side later in the week.

AAHHHH Springtime

AAhhh, springtime in Louisiana. Got up this morning to 34 degree and snow coming down. I don't ever remember snow this late in March. If we had wanted this, we could have stayed in Okla. where there is
6 to 8 inches on the ground. Of course, it didn't stick here as the ground got too warm this past week, but it was sticking good in OKC.

Have a happy spring Sunday.

Sorry, still no pictures

I know everyone enjoys blogs with pictures, however, I just can't get my puter working online. We will be going back home next week and I will have many pictures for you to see. I have bought several things so cute and springy, is that a word??, don't think so. It is amazing how much greener it has gotten in just the week we have been here in Louisiana.

Our church here is having a fern sale this weekend benefitting the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, La and I went today and bought one. They had 7 different kinds, I would have loved to buy one of each but don't think JC, the hubbs would like that. I did buy a Kimberly and it is huge. We are already packed to the brim.

I went to see one of my nieces new home this morning. Her husband passed away "too young" a couple of years ago and she decided to move to a new house. It is absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had had my camera. She has marvelous taste. I told her she should contact Southern Living. The yard is landscaped to perfection along with perfection everywhere.

Our son left this morning for a weekend in New Orleans with his girlfriend. There may be big news when they return. It is so nice slumming here in his house. I have a few pictures I took here so those you will see next week.

I went with my Granddaughter, Lauren, to pick up baby, Allie, at day care or as they call it school. She is just so cute, pics to follow.

Gotta get dinner and back to the final four, hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love St. Patrick's Day, could it be that I am Irish? I have red hair and green eyes and very fair skin, yes, you guessed it, Irish. I celebrated the day by going out for lunch with 3 nieces, my sister in law, Sharon, and daughter, Julie. It was so much fun just laughing and cutting up with those girls. In the past few years, it seems the only times we can get together is at a funeral, so this was a real treat.

Have a great (or green) St. Patty's Day!

Marvelous Monday

For the first time in months, it is Monday and it's not raining or snowing, however, it's not Oklahoma either. Ha! We watched spring come alive as we drove south. I love spring here in the deep south. The redbud, chinese magnolia, Bradford pear, and dogwood trees are blooming and the St. Augustine grass is so green here in Louisiana. Can the azalia blooms be far behind!! The family here is doing well, except, they all seem to be fighting allergies. Baby Allie has them too. Guess that is the price you have to pay to have all of this budding out.

Our granddaughter that goes to college at Northwestern La. Un. talked our two grandsons into driving up for the weekend so, we got to see them. They are such sweet kids, thanks to Julie, their Mom, who did a great job as a single mother. On another point, NLU is in Natchitoches La., the little town where the movie Steel Magnolias was made. That is my all-time favorite film. Our granddaughter that goes to OU was also here for the weekend.

I am taking pictures but can't post them as I can't get my computer online. It is something with Rick's firewalls, as I mentioned before. I will have to post them when I get home.

We have a quiet day planned, just blog reading for me and deciding what's for dinner. Big day. Have a good Monday and a great week.

And away we go

And off we go tomorrow to Louisiana. We will be staying at our son's house and will try to keep up with my blog there, however, his system is always a mystery. Sometimes it works and sometimes, forget it, as far as outside individuals are concerned. He is a cardiologist and has various firewalls, etc. on his computers. I understand it, since he does chart work and patient files from the house, so for confidential reasons has to have all of this security.
He has a beautiful home and I will try to take pictures. He built a pool last year, so I am anxious to see how it looks now. They have had lots of snow and cold weather, so it may be still in disarray.
Until we meet again

I  like lots of you, I've  fallen in love with white, however, it is not condusive with living  with a three year old, plus, 2 cats and 5 dogs and probably with me, if truth be told.  I have limited white to one shelf in the  den.
Don't you think white tulips are exquisite!  That is our oldest granddaughter, Lauren, on her wedding day and her groom, Randall.  The picture behind the little church is Lauren and her baby, Allie, our first great grand, and a generational picture.   I thought these were great for a white day.  I have changed this shelf  somewhat.  Will show you later how it looks now.  Getting ready to settle in for Idol and the guys.  Have a good evening.

More of my ramblings

Here I am rambling once again.  I have just been pretty busy, getting caught up before we leave on Friday, that is going to Hobby Lobby and DT today.  Don't quite know what that has to do with getting caught up.   Neither place had what I wanted.  Everyone must be reading and doing new blog crafts.  I have pictures to post and will try to get busy with that soon.  I haven't attended any of the parties because I really haven't figured out how to deal with Mr. Linky but, I need to do that to get a few readers.  I will probably be out of the loop for the next few days, but I know you won't miss me,  LOL!

Spring has sprung

This morning it was cool and clear after a stormy and rainy Monday.  I decided I couldn't wait any longer to prune my roses.  Oh my gosh, what a gorgeous day.  It only took me a little more than an hour so, I don't know what I was waiting for.  Boy, were they a mess, and I am now covered in scratches on my arms.  It was just too warm for me to wear long sleeves, if that is what you're  thinkin.  Besides I would rather have something to whine about.  No, I am not a whiner but, I do like whine with my cheese.  Now I need to finish up some indoor projects, since we are going to Shreveport on Friday for a couple of weeks.  Have a good afternoon!

Oscar entertainment

We had our own oscar entertainment here, as the boy got new Woody pajamas and just loved them.  I couldn't resist letting you see his antics.
