This is a plaque that I recently found in the back of a shelf. I dug it out, added the ribbon and hung it on the side of a bathroom cabinet. Now we can see it every day when we brush our teeth.

I hope you can see the detail on this old, apparently iron, double candlestick. It belonged to my husband's family, I just wish I knew the history behind it. I think I should take it to "Antiques Roadshow" as I am sure they can tell us something about it. I just love it.

This is why we are going to Shreveport soon!

A Real Blogger Now

Today, I feel like a real blogger. I purchased a cloche online last week and it arrived last night courtesy of a late UPS delivery. It is really pretty and I have some ideas of how I will use it for Easter.

It is a gorgeous day here in Oklahoma, cool, crisp and sunny blue skies. My kind of day!!

Do you like to watch cooking shows? I love watching them on Saturdays. In my bio I forgot to state that I love to cook. The kids always laugh at some new recipe I try and say it was good, but we'll probably never have it again. I need to start some sort of log with what I fix, so I can remember to fix the "keepers" again. As I told you, we live with our daughter and her family. She does most of the housekeeping and I am in charge of the kitchen and do nearly all of the cooking. The only drawback to this is trying to think of what to fix. I ask for suggestions but get few responses. I have lots of old recipes like meatloaf, goulash, stews, soups, etc., and I am not afraid to try new recipes. I have all of the Southern Living annual cookbooks along with a wide variety of other cookbooks. I guess you could say, it's a cookbook collection. Daughter #3 works in retail, a bookstore at that, and gave me the Julia Childs collection for Christmas. I've tried a couple of the recipes, but could never do what Julie did in "Julia and Julie" and cook them all.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

J and J Part 2

The concert last night was awesome. John and Billy were onstage 3 1/2 hours, sometimes together and sometimes alone. We had wonderful seats and the crowd was outstanding. It is so nice to go to concerts now and not leave with a headache because of cigarette smoke. The Ford Center is a great venue and the special effects were beautiful. Can you tell I enjoyed myself? It was raining when we came out, however, we did not get the 2 inches of snow predicted. There was a slight dusting on the car and sidewalk edges this morning but nothing really significant. We're due for snow again on Sunday so will see what happens then. I am going to try and get some pictures up this weekend of several projects that I've been working on. In the meantime, have a good weekend!

Joel and John Concert

Several years ago, daughters No. 3 and 4 took me to Dallas to see Billy Joel and Elton John in concert. It was a Mother's Day gift and it was great. Those talented men are really fantastic performers. Tonight they will be in the big city and once again my girls will be taking me to a Joel and John concert, however, this time a Granddaughter will also go. I think it will be pretty exciting if it is any thing like the first time. I will certainly let you know how it went tomorrow. We are supposed to have snow again this weekend. I can't wait, ha!

Football

One of the first things you should know about our family is that we are “diehard” football  fans.  We lived in New Orleans when the Saints first began.  My  husband and then young son went to several of those first games.  We have remained fans all through these down years and now are on cloud nine with that Superbowl win.  It just so happens that our twin daughters birthday was on Feb. 7th, so it was a big celebration with friends and family.  This picture is my first photo try.  I don’t have a sophisticated camera, so my pictures won’t be so fabulous.  Notice the birthday cake on the right side at the back of the table.  It had an edible fleur di leis on it that I ordered off Ebay.  We had gumbo along with other goodies.

Another day in blogdom

Have just begun to try to figure out how to insert pictures into this blog. Maybe today will figure it out. Today it is sunny and beautiful here where the winds come sweepin cross the plains. I want to go to Hobby L today and just look around. All these designer blogs have got me looking at cloches, signs, plaster, and the list goes on and on. Guess if I want to do all of these things, we'd better win the lottery. If anyone happens along and has any blogging tips, please comment me. Otherwise, have a great day.

Family Thanksgiving

For the first time since I can't remember when, all of my kids, and all grandchildren with the exception of two grandsons were able to be here for Thanksgiving. We even had in-law grandkids here.
As you can see by the dates in my archives, it has taken me awhile to really decide to do this. I still don't think anyone will read this, however, I am going to give it a shot. Maybe it's just a way to record my thoughts, who knows! It has been a long cold snowy winter here in the heartland of America, one in which I have spent hours, days and weeks mostly just reading blogs. I recently entered a whole new realm of blogging when I started reading designer and home improvement type blogs. I enjoy doing various types of crafts and when I get my nerve up will start trying to add pictures. In the meantime I will try some tutorials and see what happens and go back to my reading.

When our whirlwind son was three, we were blessed with identical twin daughters. Our lives were full of little children and quite busy, which I am sure you know goes along with four pre-schoolers. it seemed in those days, that there was never enough time or money to go around. The latter brought about many moves in the years to come to alway find a place where the grass was greener. In those early years we lived in several cities in Louisiana gradually making our way south, finally to New Orleans. We loved it there, lots to do, and lots of fun things to occupy our family time, the zoo, the lakefront, and other culturally available places to take ones children for a fun time.
