Scorcher

It has been such a terrible summer, what with the following:
  1. my nephew passed away on June 8 quite unexpectedly
  2. my brother, (nephew's father, my last living sibling) died on July 9th
  3. the hottest July anywhere in the US  was in OK.
  4. Heidi got sick a week or so ago, turned out to be a bladder infection
  5. I have had a continuing ear problem since early summer, finally went to the doctor yesterday
  6. I've had a sensitive tooth, dentist says I need a new crown and 2 fillings
We did have good news yesterday. One of our granddaughters, Chelsea, got engaged this week. She will graduate from college next spring and a wedding will be planned for about the same time or close.

Of course, all hasn't been bad, there was a beautiful wedding in June, in which we gained a new daughter and granddaughter.

Hubs and I went to New Orleans for a few days after Rick's wedding.
Had a great time, just walking the French Quarter and eating good food.

We stayed at the Monteleone, and this is their famous Carousel bar and it was soooo nice.

Standing in line to eat dinner at Acme Oyster House

What is left of my lunch, Oysters Bienville, my favorite.

With August here, fall is coming soon. We have lots to look forward to in the next few weeks. Our triplet babies will be here on Friday, their first visit to Oklahoma, football is 3 weeks away and the OK philharmonic will be starting soon. This has got to mean cooler weather, can't wait!

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Time

Once again, time has slipped by and the month of July is here and gone. I am not a summertime person and with the heat wave we here in Oklahoma ( along with lots of the rest of the country) I have just sat around and complained and watched things burn up. Even the knockout roses are looking pitiful. We are under water rationing, so just have to resist watering. There is a burn ban here too, so that means no grilling outside, even in this heat, if we wanted to.

On the 9th of July, my brother passed away. He was the last of my generation, was 88 and been in poor health for quite some time. It was good to see some hardly ever seen family members, even if for such a sad occasion.
Maybe I will get more involved in blogging when fall comes. In the meantime, hope you enjoy the rest of the summer.
